Zero-Miles Snack Day
Proposé par Camille Démo ✓, Collège Jean-Moulin, Paris · publié le 18 septembre 2026
Organise a snack or a picnic where everything served was grown nearby, to understand how far food usually travels.
Matériel
A world map and a local map, pins or stickers, food labels brought from home, card for the dish labels.
Déroulement
To understand how far food travels, and the resources used to grow it far away, pupils organise a school snack day or a neighbourhood picnic where everything served is grown by farmers in their area.
Look at the labels of a usual snack and place each origin on a world map.
Find out what grows nearby this season: visit a market or invite a farmer.
Plan the menu, invite families, and make a label for each dish with the distance it travelled.
On the day, add up the kilometres of the local snack and compare with the usual one.
