Debate: should short-haul flights be banned?

In 2023, France banned domestic flights where a train alternative under 2h30 exists.

Step 1 (15 min)

In pairs, read the two short articles provided and list arguments for and against the ban.

Step 2 (10 min)

Learn and practise the debate phrases: "I strongly believe that…", "On the other hand…", "That may be true, however…".

Step 3 (20 min)

Class debate. Half the class defends the ban, the other half opposes it. Each student must speak at least once.

Homework: write a 120-word opinion paragraph.
